Winterthur Tests New Logo
Winterthur's Furnishings for Beautiful Homes title recently mailed a catalog with a new logo design.
The catalog does away with "Winterthur" and the signature "W" set off in a color block, opting instead to present the museum's name in a large script font across the top. "Home Furnishings" is printed in small letters beneath, replacing the italicized "Furnishings for Beautiful Homes." Shoppers can choose from a variety of French country-styled home items including glass and dishware ($29.95 - $149.95), lamps ($99.95 - $199.95) and bed linens and pillows ($24.95 - $499.95). Orders can be placed by mail, phone or on the web at WinterthurGifts.com.
Wondertime Seeks Charter Subscribers
Wondertime, a new parenting magazine from the editors of Disney's FamilyFun, focuses on the crucial primary years of child development.
A charter subscription offer for the publication, labeled as a "Private Invitation," arrives in a glossy 6" x 9" package that promotes the title as a "new magazine that helps you make the most of your child's natural curiosity." Targeting the parents of babies, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarteners, the magazine is presented as a resource for sparking creativity and learning. Inside, a two-page letter and lift note from editor Lisa Stiepock explain how the publication helps parents teach children to share and be respectful; the magazine also provides information on how a child's brain works. The mailer also includes a colorful insert, which displays sample magazine spreads and covers with articles that include "How to Play: A Primer" and "Discovering Nature Everyday." The soft charter offer is set at $10 for 10 issues, one of which is free.
SW Indian Children's Fund Mails T-Shirt Incentive
The Southwest Indian Children's Fund, an outreach ministry from the Don Stewart Association that supports American Indian children on reservations in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah, recently mailed a rare t-shirt freemium.
An image of a wolf beneath a dream catcher is pictured on the front of the bulky 9" x 12" package along with the text, "Your Gift from Grand Canyon Country." The enclosed Native American wolf t-shirt, which is described as "a thank you gift for you, or someone special in your life," features the same image in full-color. According to the four-page appeal letter, the wolf is native to all Indian lands and is revered as a crafty survivor. The t-shirt is reserved for recipients who become 2006 sponsors and continue the work of the organization, which in 2005 provided Thanksgiving dinners, food bank programs, warm clothing and clean water for struggling families. Southwest Indian Children's Fund stresses the need for immediate action from recipients since the colder winter months are challenging due to sub-zero nights, frozen water and rising heating fuel costs. The organization sets its ask ladder at $15/$20/$100/other, a variation on the $10/$25/other ask ladder used in a promotion last fall that featured a calendar freemium.
